BASADI BA MINTSU

Serati is a founding member of trans-national, all-woman, political art, music collective called Basadi Ba Mintsu- Tswana and Shangana for "roots women". The members of Basadi's musical and poetic escape are; Beauty Sitoe (Mozambique), Ekaterine James (Cuba), Serati (South Africa) and Yuru Yayungai (Brazil). Using the metpahor of elements and cycles of nature as a symbol of female fertility and creation, they blend their diverse musical and cultural origins with the common ground they share: their African ancestry.
